Sofa Injury Compensation
First4lawyers are helping several people claim injury compensation who have suffered from allergic skin reactions, rashes and burns by coming into contact with leather sofas purchased from high street retailers including Argos, Land of Leather and Walmsley's Furnishing. The sofas are manufactured by a Chinese firm called Linkwise. If you have been affected and would like advice on making a claim for injury compensation then contact us immediately on FREEPHONE 0800 567 7866 or fill in the contact form to request a free call back.
The story first appeared in the News of the World on 9th September 2007 (and later on BBC's Watchdog programme) which reported that the Pia and Bari sofas may have caused the skin rash problems, which appear as severe redness, itching and in some cases blistering. Several people have received hospital treatment for the skin rash from the toxic sofas and some have developed dermatitis, which is a severe inflammation of the skin similar to eczema. Argos and Land of Leather are said to have now withdrawn the toxic leather sofas from sale.
Dermatology experts are carrying out tests to determine which chemicals are causing the skin rashes and how the chemicals got onto the sofas. Early reports have suggested that a sachet which is placed in the sofas and contains a chemical called Di-methyl Fumarate (DMF) is causing the skin irritation. The sachet is supposed to stop the sofas going mouldy during storage and everday usage.
At the recent crown court hearing the judge decided to allow a Group Litigation Order to go ahead - allowing anyone who has suffered effects of the faulty/toxic sofas to become part of the case. The order ensures that all the cases will be dealt with collectively and may help victims receive compensation within the next six months.
If you have purchased or own a Argos (Pia/Bari), Land of Leather or Walmsley's leather sofa, or maybe visited a friend or family's home and came into contact with these toxic leather sofas, and have been suffering injuries or severe skin rashes then you could be entitled to make a claim for compensation against the manufacturer or the person who sold it to you. As there are TIME LIMITS in place for bringing a claim, we advise you to contact us immediately on FREEPHONE 0800 567 7866.
