Ben Brown awarded £5,883.60, following an accident in a residential council building
Mr Brown, a 27 year old football coach and match day steward from Brighton, suffered from a severely lacerated hand after falling down the stairs in the residential council building where he lives.
Ben was taking a rubbish bag outside and, as he walked down the stairs, the sensor activated lights switched off.
This caused him to miss the last step and fall forward through a window at the bottom of the stairwell. His right hand, which he put out to protect himself as he fell, went straight through the glass and resulted in serious injuries.
With his hand bleeding badly and in a lot of pain, Ben made his way to the hospital, where the glass was removed. Unfortunately, the injury had caused severe nerve damage and Ben had to have an operation on his hand two weeks later to help repair it.
The injury left him severely debilitated and he was unable to return to work for eight months. Ben also has two young children and for a prolonged period after the accident he was unable to carry out basic parenting tasks, such as changing his daughter’s nappy or picking up his son, which he found extremely difficult. Even now, three years after his accident, he still has very limited feeling in his hand.
Following the accident his mother-in-law suggested he was entitled to compensation and after seeing an advert on TV he decided to call First4lawyers.
Ben said: “First4lawyers were amazing. From the first call until the day I received my compensation, they provided expert guidance and advice and made the whole legal process very simple.
“If my mother-in-law hadn’t advised that I was entitled to compensation for my injuries, I wouldn’t have ever called, but I’m so glad I did. If you ever have an accident that isn’t your fault, then I recommend you call First4lawyers, who will ensure you receive the compensation you’re entitled to.
“Although I still have minimal feeling in my hand, I feel that at least I have been compensated for the loss of earnings and pain I suffered as a result of my accident.”
