Mr Sinclair, awarded £5,000 following an injury at work
Scott Sinclair, from Folkestone in Kent, is a fabricator and welder and was working on a construction job at a theatre at the time of his injury.
Mr Sinclair was walking across a wood floor area, which had been laid on top of several beams, when he stepped onto a part that hadn’t been properly secured. He fell and, as he did so, a steel part of the structure pierced the side of his abdomen.
He was taken to hospital, where he had to undergo a scan to rule out a ruptured spleen, and received stiches. Mr Sinclair was in lots of pain, but because he had previously had to take some time off work, he had to return immediately to ensure he received his pay. He suffered intense pain for three weeks following his injury, which was made worse by having to return to work the day after the accident.
Frustrated by the situation and his injury, which had been caused by his employer’s negligence, he decided to call First4lawyers, who on hearing of his injury and the circumstances surrounding it, put him in touch with a specialist solicitor.
Mr Sinclair said: “I suffered with intense pain following my injury, which was the fault of my employer, but had to return to work immediately as I couldn’t afford to take unpaid time off. I felt this was wrong and decided to contact First4lawyers to get some advice and guidance.
“They were great and quickly put me in touch with a solicitor who took my case on. I wanted justice and both First4lawyers and the solicitor who looked after my case made sure I was compensated for the injury I sustained whilst working.
“They made the process very simple and I was happy with the compensation I received. I would recommend First4lawyers to anyone who has sustained an injury through no fault of their own – they’ll provide you with advice and guidance and if they feel you have a valid claim, they’ll work hard to ensure you get the compensation you deserve.”
