Frequently Asked Questions
Why do you use the term Personal Injury?
Personal injury is the term that solicitors use to describe an accident to a person, such as a Work Accident, which has caused them a physical or mental injury, a spinal or brain injury for example. We prefer to use plain English and use the term accident. You should be aware that your personal injury solicitor may need to use legal language but he or she will explain any unfamiliar terms to you.
Am I eligible to make a Personal Injury Compensation Claim?
To find out if you are eligible to make a personal injury compensation claim simply take our 60 Second Test or alternatively, call our freephone helpline 0800 567 7866 and speak to one of our specialist advisors who will be able to give you a free, no obligation assessment of your compensation claim. Honesty and integrity are very important to us and therefore we do not believe in raising expectations or encouraging false claims. Use our compensation calculator to give you an idea of how much you can claim.
What is meant by No Win No Fee?
Under a No Win No Fee agreement you will only be responsible for your personal injury solicitor's costs if you win your no win no fee claim, although these costs are normally recovered from the losing party.
What happens if I lose my Personal Injury Compensation Claim?
If you don't win your compensation claim, you pay nothing. This is because you will usually have the benefit of an insurance policy linked to the No Win No Fee agreement, which covers the other side’s costs. Your solicitor will explain this in more detail. Please see our No Win No Fee section for more details.
What if I suffered a Personal Injury a while ago - Can I Still Claim?
The general rule is that you have three years from the date of your personal injury to make a compensation claim. If the accident involved a person under 18, then the three years does not start until his/her 18th birthday. There are special exceptions to this three-year rule which apply to Industrial Disease, Medical Negligence and Criminal Injury Claims.
