What is a hair transplant claim?

Hair transplants are procedures designed to move hair to an area of the head that is bald or thinning. In most cases, the patient is able to return to work after three days. However, there are times when things can go wrong.

Complications can include:

  • Bleeding
  • Scarring
  • Infection
  • Allergic reaction to the anaesthetic

If you suffered a complication or injury as a result of negligence on the part of the trichologist or their team, you could make a claim for compensation.

Why should I make a hair transplant claim?

If something went wrong during your procedure, you have the right to have it acknowledged. You also have the right to compensation.

Meanwhile, if you’ve had to take time off work to recover from the injury you suffered, you may not have been paid. A compensation claim could help you cover your loss of earnings.

Is there a time limit for making a hair transplant claim?

In most cases, you will have three years from the injury being sustained to make a claim. However, if you were not aware that the hair transplant was the reason for your injury until after that period, you could still make a claim.

You will have three years from the date you learned that your hair transplant caused your injury to make a claim. This is known as the date of knowledge.

How much compensation will I receive?

Your situation is unique. This makes it difficult to tell exactly what you might be entitled to without a consultation. But to give you an idea, for serious damage to hair, you could be entitled to compensation of up to £9,660. Meanwhile, significant scarring could see compensation of up to £26,380 awarded.

See our compensation calculator for a rough idea or just get in touch and our advisors will be happy to discuss your situation.

I think I have a hair transplant claim – what should I do?

These details can help to strengthen your case.
