Reporting Line

Reporting directly to the Group Director of Business Development.

Salary

Competitive, dependent upon experience, starting from a basic salary of £45,000 with uncapped commission.

Job Location

First4Lawyers Group is located in Huddersfield town centre: Permanent House, 1 Dundas Street, Huddersfield, HD1 2HE. We are conveniently located close to the motorway network and within walking distance of the railway station meaning we are within easy commuting distance of Leeds, Wakefield, Sheffield, Bradford, Dewsbury, Halifax and Manchester.

While this role allows for remote working flexibility, there will be a requirement to attend the Company’s offices as needed.

This position will require frequent travel to various stakeholders’ office, industry conferences and other business events across the whole of the UK.

About the role

Due to company growth, we are thrilled to be seeking a Business Development Manager.

With inspirations to become the UK’s number one legal services provider, our newest Business Development Manager will play a crucial role in identifying new opportunities and driving our growth.

You will work collaboratively with the Business Development team who are at the forefront of our journey to reach new levels of success. Working with law firms and other corporate organisations, you will be required to develop the full range of our personal injury and clinical negligence marketing collectives as well our non-personal injury legal services.

Your responsibilities

As a key member of our Business Development team, you will be responsible for:

  1. Effectively contribute to the Delivery of the departmental strategic plan which will involve achieving annual targets as part of meeting the overall expectations of the Company.
  2. Effectively manage, plan, control and communicate your own workload to ensure the successful delivery of Department strategic plan.
  3. Commit to undertaking continual professional development both individually and with all members of the Business Development Team. This will include identifying and recognising your own development needs with your line manager.
  4. Maintaining a consistent positive message to all firms, colleagues and other working partners.
  5. Identifying, exploring and optimising the commercial returns from current and potential new income streams to generate profitable sales.
  6. Produce timely business and activity reports as directed by your line manager.
  7. Working collaboratively with all partners, stakeholders and colleagues
  8. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to shape initiatives that align with market demands.
  9. Identifying, recommending and pursuing new business opportunities with prospect law firms, third party suppliers and potential corporate partners.
  10. Nurturing existing client relationships while cultivating new ones
  11. Stay ahead of industry trends and competitor movements, to develop new opportunities, products and services, keeping us at the cutting edge of innovation.
  12. Attaining, and wherever possible exceeding, all individual monthly sales targets as agreed by the Company.
  13. Act as a PR ambassador networking for the business including attending industry conferences, exhibitions and other such functions as directed by the Company.
  14. Planning and prioritising your workload to effectively perform the requirements of your role.
  15. Build and maintain an in depth working knowledge and appreciation of the current legal industry/market, sales trends and identify any potential threats or opportunities to the sector.
  16. Provide innovative feedback and suggestions for the continual improvement of the Business Development function and/or business overall.

Skills and Qualifications

Our next Business Development Manager should be someone who shares our drive, can hit the ground running sharing their expertise and is forward thinking. All we ask for is you have the following criteria:

Experience

Essential:

  • Should either currently be working in, or have filled a similar business development role within the legal services industry.
  • Able to demonstrate a credible track record of delivering continual growth within a B2B sales role.
  • Experience of key account management, specifically identifying, building and maintaining relationships within a customer focused professional services environment.
  • Experience of generating own B2B leads.

Desirable:

  • Already be working within the legal services industry with a number of long standing and loyal relationships at Senior Partner/Owner level within full legal service law firms.
  • Strong professional reputation within the legal services industry.

Skills

  • Strong sales skills with the ability to effectively convert a high percentage of leads.
  • Ability to work to and meet set targets both independently and as part of a sales team.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to effectively prioritise and time manage yourself and your workload.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Able to build professional relationships at all levels.
  • T literate and familiar with using all Microsoft products and the ability to adapt and learn new systems and software.
  • A flexible approach to work with the ability to adapt to new and changing priorities.
